Now hiring: Information Technology Assistant

The Germantown Public Library is now hiring for the position of Information Technology Assistant. 

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Creates regular backups of server installations
  • Creates regular backups of loss sensitive staff and unmanned PCs 
  • Installs updates on staff and unmanned PCs
  • Installs updates on public PC master installations and reimage public PCs
  • Troubleshoots public and staff hardware and software
  • Reimages computers with damaged software installations
  • Updates and maintains installation instructions for current open source systems in use
  • Researches new software and hardware for use by the public or staff
  • Performs circulation & monitor desk routines
  • Serves patrons in a courteous and business-like manner
  • Projects a positive and pleasant attitude to the public and cooperates and maintains an effective relationship with other staff members as part of a team
  • Adheres to library policies and procedures
  • Performs related work as required

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be enrolled in the 10th grade or higher or have completed high school or the equivalent, have some degree of comfort with the computer hardware and software and possess either the knowledge or the willingness to learn how to manage both Windows and Linux based systems. 

This position will typically work 15 hours per week, with some flexibility possible.  

Salary:  $9.00 per hour
