Kids Summer Reading Program

Summer Reading:  June 11th to August 4th

Join the Library for our Summer Reading Program. Like always, we have lots of fun activities planned.

We will kick off the fun June 11th. Stop by the library to register and pick up your reading log.

Story Time will take place as usual every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:15, June 12th to August 16th. We’ll read stories, make a craft, and enjoy snacks. For ages 3 to 5, but everyone is welcome. No registration required.

Wednesday Programs:

Every other Wednesday during summer reading the library will have a fun kids program for ages 6 through 12. We will learn how to plant a seed, make our own bubble wands, and try our hand at simple DIY tie-dying, among other things. These programs will take place at 11:00am outside in the garden area of the library, or down in the conference room in the basement.

Prize Drawings:

Prizes will be drawn at the beginning of every Wednesday program. You must be present to win.

Friday Programs:

Every Friday during summer reading we will have visiting entertainers who will marvel us with stories and magic. Entertainers include Jim Kleefeld, Mark Wade, and a special visit from Amelia Earhart. We will also be visited by the Metro Parks, the library’s constellation “expert,” Miss Shawn-Leigh, and learn some sign language from our in library American Sign Language “professional,” Miss Kelsey. These programs are fun for families and kids of all ages. They will take place at 1:00 pm in the conference room located in the basement of the library.

Special Saturday Program: Mike Hemmelgarn, Sat., June 16th at 1:00pm

In honor of Summer Reading Kick Off Week, Mike Hemmelgarn is coming to the library. Join us as he marvels us with puppets, magic, and stories. It’ll be fun for the whole family. This program will take place outside at Veteran’s Memorial Park, by the pool, weather permitting. If it’s rainy or wet, we will hold the program in the library conference room.

NOTE: Make sure you stop by the library to get a Summer Reading Calendar, as programs and times are subject to change.
