Policies

Patron cards

Patrons are required to comply with all rules and regulations and are responsible for all material checked out on their card.

Everyone under the age of 18 is required to have a parent's signature when applying for a library card.  Any resident of Ohio who presents one form of identification, which shows their current mailing address, may apply for a free library card.  Patrons who provide photo identification, but do not have verification of current address will be issued a New Patron card.  This card limits the patron to ONLY TWO items and will remain in effect until verification of current address is provided.

Statement of Responsibility

By acceptance of your library card you agree to be responsible for all library materials borrowed with your card.  Immediately notify the Library in the event of loss, theft, or possible unauthorized use of the card.  If the card is issued to a person under 18, the parent or guardian agrees to be responsible for the person's selection, use and return of library materials.

Borrowing Limits

In order to make the public library useful to the entire community, we must all share the resources in a responsible manner.

Patrons may borrow :

All other material – no limit

Borrowing periods:

Renewing Materials

All materials may be renewed twice by telephone if they are not on hold for someone else.  Items may be renewed in person an unlimited number of times if they are not on hold.

Overdue Rates

Overdue fines are $0.10 per day with a maximum charge of $5.00.

Book Drop

The Book/Video drop is available 24 hours a day.  It is adjacent to the parking lot off of Center Street.

Reserving Materials

If the item you want is not on the shelf, you may wish to place a hold on it.  You may place the hold yourself at any public terminal or online with the library's web catalog.  You will be notified by telephone or email when the item is available.  Once you are called, the item will be held for 7days.

Each patron may have up to 30 items on hold at a time.

The Germantown Public Library also participates in MORE, a statewide program of resource sharing with many other public and academic libraries throughout the State of Ohio.  Material may be obtained from the collections of these libraries and will be available to our patrons as soon as possible.  This service is available on our in-house computer terminals and on our web site.  The circulation staff can assist you in searching for and ordering any material not available in our library.

Reference Materials

Reference material, including our Local and Family History collection do not circulate.  These items are kept in the library for the use of all patrons at all times.
